Cricket: The Uncertain Future for the English county game... and how we got here!
Forever Changes
Living With English County Cricket
by Dave Allen
With fears that the future of county cricket's Championship is not at all secure, Dave explores the culture of almost constant change in English cricket today since he first watched it in 1959.
Dave asks, are simple economic concerns driving many of these changes? Is county cricket shifting from something embedded in English culture to being a niche activity for a declining number of supporters and participants? Is cricket in terminal decline in English cities?
This is not Dave's first book about cricket - he has written a number of books on Hampshire’s history, and has edited the Hampshire Handbook since 2009. He also broadcasts on the county’s matches for Southampton Hospital Radio and Radio Solent’s ball-by-ball commentaries and is Hampshire's Hon. Archivist. This long and deep association with the game, and in particular with Hampshire, gives a unique flavour to this well written, entertaining and informative book.
